Male Pattern Baldness/Androgenetic Alopecia

Also known as Androgenetic Alopecia, it is the most common cause of baldness seen in men characterized by typical pattern of receding hairline and hair thinning on the crown. It is the cause for hair loss in about 90% of the men of which 35% men affected are in the 30’s. This percentage increases with age.

Stages of Male Pattern Baldness

  • Excessive loss of hair
  • Receding hairline from the frontal area of the scalp
  • Bald patch on the top of the scalp (the crown)
  • Hair on the sides of the scalp remains intact

Other Contributing Factors to Hair Loss

  • Nutritional Deficiencies – A diet lacking iron and proteins can significantly accelerate hair loss.
  • Poor Blood Circulation – Reduced blood flow to the scalp deprives hair follicles of essential nutrients, impairing hair growth.
  • Smoking/Nicotine – These sensitize hair follicles to the effects of hormones, increasing hair loss.
  • Dandruff – Inflamed, flaky scalp skin interferes with circulation and nourishment, leading to hair thinning.

Our Approach at ‘Dr. Anand’s Homeopathic Clinic’

We follow a scientific and personalized method of evaluating male pattern baldness. Using the Norwood classification, we identify the balding stage and match it to one of the two common types:

  • Regular Type (most common in Indian men): Hair loss begins at both temples and the crown, which eventually merge.
  • Type A (less common): Hair loss begins from the front and progresses backward.
